About

The magazine skilled work deserves

The country needs millions of skilled workers. The people who could fill those jobs rarely see the careers, the pay, or the training paths in one place. We built The Skilled Nation to change that.

Why we exist

No national magazine tells the story of skilled work with the depth and design of a lifestyle publication. Skilled trades, technical careers, and the training paths into them get a pamphlet when they deserve a cover story.

The Skilled Nation is a free national digital magazine on skilled careers, job training, and financial literacy. Each issue tells real stories of workers, programs, and employers, publishes the numbers that matter, and teaches the money skills that turn a good paycheck into a stable life.

What we publish

One issue on the first Thursday of every month, starting Thursday, February 4, 2027. About 8,000 words per issue, with photography and data graphics, in four formats: a web edition, a designed digital edition, an email edition, and short video for social channels.

Who publishes it

TradePath publishes The Skilled Nation alongside TradePath Weekly, a weekly newsletter on skilled careers and training. Ryan McNeil is the creator of The Skilled Nation.

How we stay independent

Sponsors fund the magazine so readers never pay. Sponsors do not approve our stories. Every sponsored feature carries a "Sponsored" label. Every statistic links to its source. Read our editorial standards.
